Standing here in Nadi Int'l airport in Fiji, i woder how to sum up the past month and a half since i last wrote here... its really hard! I can't tell everything in detail, because i've slept in 14 beds in the last month even... and the sleeping is the boring part! However, I'll give a brief update of where and what ive been up to - After my last blog, our team took a 20 hour bus ride to cover 550 kilometers of the Gobi desert to get to a town called Delanzadgad... we were to work with the church there and we did! every day was packed with home groups, kids programs and youth groups, visiting sick peope in their homes... it was full on and amazing, every day the dusty wind there would still be the same but every day we saw change and growth - a buddhist man come to a Bible study a buddhist and leave a christian, a baby healed of a debilitating fever, everday warriors being encouraged that their families would soon follow in their footsteps to follow christ.
It was amazing to hang ot with these guys who when introducing themselves would say their name, and how long they had been a christian... because the gospel had only been there 6 years... but we learned so much from these guys! after 2 weeks there we went back to the capital, U.B. and got to pay with those kids in the community centers again... and play with kids in the childrens hospital... we had a great time just loving people - they didnt want our money or food or whatever... they wanted what is priceless... its amazing how money has become the hands and feet of jesus nowadays... i guess sending money to ophans in cambodia and africa are ways to make you feel better, but jesus, in addition to saying give all you have to the poor, said GO!!! Go into your backyard, go into Tunisia, go into your workplace... GO!
Anyways, we made our way back to Perth - purely by Gods provision... ask me sometime and i'll explain - its a cool story. Then we headed 2 hours south of perth by car and spent a week in a town called Busselton - we shared in two highschools there, doing seminars on Drugs and Alchohol, Relationships, and Bullying... sounds typical... but we were really amazed at how receptive these guys were - and you know why i think they listened? We had experience and we were their age - we could relate and had found through our own experiences or relatives and friends that drugs and alchohol weren't worth it, that relationships are valuable and fragile and are worth it... they really took a liking to us... and we had the most fun when answering any (any!) questions they had... we got questions about the accuracy of hollywoods portrayal of american schools, and stuff about what we did on our outreach - but my favorite question was " so you spent thousands of dollars to come see us?!" That was the perfect opportunity to get THEM thinking about their own lives and what impact they want to have - but the bell rang... but at least we saw we were stirring up some questions!! We left Busselton's kids who were now in or hearts, as well as the amazing natural beauty there... sadly it will soon be overtaken by developers... but hey - anything for a buck right?! We arrived in perth to catch up with all the other teams and then had to say goodbye to everyone with hopes of seeing them again - it was hard, but not so much in light of the things to come - for me - seeing my family, travelling with them, the re-entry seminar and seeing me family and friends back in Texas... so thats where i am now - in the last couple of days ive gotten to go on a Sydney harbor cruise with my mom, and horseback riding on the beach hre in fiji this afternoon - its amazing! anyways - im on my way to texas now - Until later!
